How wide are the strips of color on show jumping poles?
Sometimes the pole is half one colour and half another. Sometimes its divided into thirds with the two outer sides being the same colour etc. There is no exact measurement!!! i take it you are painting your poles? There are many many different designs on poles. if it is not for show purposes basically do what ever you think looks nice, it will only benefit your horse for him to have to jump crazy unusual colours and patterns 
if it is for a show, divide your poles into halves, thirds and quarters with a pencil and usually only two/three colours per pole looks the best. What also looks nice is inbetween each colour you can do small strips of white to divide the colours neatly after you have painted the main colours
